Amp Electric Grand Cherokee An NAIAS
So we mention in a post back in December that Amp would introduce an All-Electric Grand Cherokee at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Well they’ve done just that. This 100% electric vehicle is by all means still a Grand Cherokee. Amp has managed to incorporate the electric drive and power storage systems without altering the vehicles appearance. Aside from the 100% Electric logo on the outside, you can’t distinguish it from the factory version. The introduction of this vehicle generates a lot of questions, i.e. when will it be released, how much will it cost. Consumer Reports Likes What Chrysler LLC Is Doing
Chrysler LLC moves up on Consumer Reports reliability list for 2011. According to the “Consumer Reports Reliability Ranking” Chrysler jumped 12 notches to No. 15 on the list, Jeep climbed 7 spots to No. 13 on the list, and Dodge moved up 3 slots to No. 21. The No. 13 spot held by Jeep makes it the MOST RELIABLE AMERICAN VEHICLE. Both Ford and GM dropped in overall ranking compared to last year. The rankings are based on 1.3 Million consumers who were polled.

3.0L Turbo Diesel Grand Cherokee
Looks like Australia is getting a 3.0L diesel option for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 3.0L turbo diesel gets a combined fuel economy of 28 mpg. The engine is produced by VM Motori in conjunction with FIAT. It uses the MultiJet II technology created by FIAT. For the Aussies who don’t want a diesel, Jeep offers the 3.6L Pentastar V-6 and the 5.7L Hemi V-8. Unfortunately, no such diesel option exist for us in the states. Lets hope Jeep shows us some love in the near future.

New Mini Jeep? Maybe
We did some searching and came up with what may be the next Mini Jeep. Introducing the FIAT Panda Cross 4×4. This little fellow currently being sold in Europe might make a wonderful entry level jeep. Not only could it be sold for less than 15k, but it also gets 40+ mpg’s.
There have been a lot of rumors surrounding possible vehicles that will be introduced to the U.S. since FIAT took control of Chrysler. Just add this one to an already growing list.

Chrysler Brand Getting Out Of Europe – Sort Of!
It looks like Chrysler is terminating sales in Europe starting today, according to a report by Bloomberg. The Chrysler brand has had difficulty competing with VW and GM in the markets. What you will see is Lancia dealerships springing up to replace the Chrysler dealerships. Lancia(A FIAT company) has had a pretty good track record in Europe.
“We couldn’t maintain the two brands everywhere so we had to decide,” Olivier Francois, the Fiat executive who heads the Lancia and Chrysler brands, said in an interview. “Lancia has a higher awareness in Europe, while for the U.S. and the rest of the world, Chrysler is a more global brand.”

What you’re going to see are rebranded Chrysler products that will carry the Lancia logo. Back in March we did a post that laid out some of the crossover vehicles we expect to see hit Europe. Lancia sales are expected to double with vehicle sales hitting close to the 250,000 mark.
Jeep will continue to be sold in Europe with brisk sales expected. The Jeep brand has always been strong even during the recent economic slump.
Memorial Day Weekend Event At Chrysler Dealers

If your expecting Chrysler dealerships to really push some good deals this Memorial Day Weekend you would be correct. Dealerships will be pushing 0%, No Cash For 90 Days, and low payments on 2011 vehicles. Expect the deals to run Saturday and Monday. If you’re not looking for a car then remember service departments will be open on Saturday and Monday as well. Saturday hours are usually limited so check with your local dealer. This should give you a chance to get those needed repair taken care of.
Then again, you might just want to hang out on the beach and do nothing.
