LAS VEGAS (Sunday, March 11, 2012) – Fans asked for it. NASCAR agreed. SRT Motorsports and Dodge delivered. SRT Motorsports unveiled the 2013 Dodge Charger that will compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series next season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway today in front of the people that asked for the change — the fans. Just as they did with the Dodge Challenger when it was introduced in the NASCAR Nationwide Series two years ago, SRT Motorsports designers and engineers created a race car fans will have no problem identifying on the race track. The defining features of the street Charger have been expertly incorporated into the racing version.
“From the start, it’s been a collaborative effort with NASCAR,” said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO – SRT Brand and Motorsports. “NASCAR provided the manufacturers with basic specifications, but offered encouragement to venture beyond the look of the current race car. Our design and engineering group, working with Penske Racing, seized the opportunity. We had a fantastic benchmark – the Dodge Challenger – introduced in 2009. This endeavor goes beyond the trend the Nationwide Series Challenger started with a Dodge Charger that amazingly embodies many of the design features of the street version into the race car. We’re extremely proud that the Dodge Charger street car is the only rear-wheel-drive model in Sprint Cup competition that is available with a V-8 engine.”
NASCAR eased rules on where manufacturers could put glass and solid body pieces. That freed designers and engineers to make the “greenhouse,” the area above the doors, hood and truck lid, more closely resemble production cars. Rules were also eased for the front and rear, and especially the sides, allowing the character lines that come directly from the street car.
“We know NASCAR fans are passionate about cars,” said NASCAR President Mike Helton. “We’re excited about the results of the collective efforts of NASCAR, Dodge and the other manufacturers to create the 2013 Sprint Cup cars. The 2013 Dodge Charger race car design is a great example of what we look forward to seeing on the race track next season. We thank Dodge and all the manufacturers for their efforts, as we see the results here today with the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Dodge Charger.”
The relationship between the Dodge Charger street car and the Dodge Charger race car is unmistakable.
“The race fans delivered a clear message,” said Gilles. “NASCAR listened. We went to work, following the guidelines established for all manufacturers by NASCAR. The Dodge Charger revealed today validates our resolve to deliver a product that will be easily identifiable on the track without compromise in the area of competition.”
Dieter Zetsche Looking At Dart
You may not know who Dieter Zetsche (the tall man with the mustache) is. Dieter is the Chairman of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz. He was around during the DaimlerChrysler days and acted as Chairman for DaimlerChrysler. He pushed for the demerger of Chrysler and Daimler. Chrysler was eventually purchased by Cerberus before combining with Fiat.
I just wonder what he’s thinking.

Rumor! Dodge Challenger Replacement – Barracuda
There have been some rumors flying around that the Challenger may be replaced by the Barracuda. This is not expected to happen until the 2014 model year. Reason…Chrysler wants to bring a shorter, lighter and more fuel efficient performance car to the market. The Barracuda would remain RWD, and may be based off a Alfa Romeo platform. This is all speculation and nothing has been verified by Chrysler.

That’s It For The Dodge Nitro
Well, that’s it for the Dodge Nitro. The last Dodge Nitro rolled off the line Friday morning at Chrysler Group LLC’s Toledo Assembly complex (Source:Toledo Blade). The benefit to Chrysler is that they can now up production on the Jeep Liberty which is built at the same complex. As a matter of fact, demand for the liberty is so high that employees will continue working the week surrounding Christmas(A normal shutdown period).
That doesn’t mean that dealers don’t have Nitro’s in stock. There’s still plenty of Nitros on dealer lots…for now.
Possible 2013 Dodge Dart Exterior/Interior Photos
Well everyone has been speculating about what the Dodge Dart will look like. Sure we’ve seen bits and pieces being shown off by Dodge but not a full exterior shot. One photo appears to be making the rounds on the internet which is an exterior shot of a unreleased Dodge vehicle with a partially exposed body. Whether it’s the new Dart we don’t know for sure. There’s also an interior shot floating around as well. We won’t post the pictures here because… well, we’re supported by a Dodge dealership. You can look for these shots yourself simply by typing in “interior spy photo dodge 2013 dart” or “exterior spy photo 2013 dodge dart”. Bad news is that these pictures are poorly taken and don’t come close to the awesome shots were seeing from Dodge.

The Dodge Brand Races to the December 11 ‘Dodge Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon’
The Dodge brand is going the distance as the title sponsor and “Official Automotive Partner” of the inaugural “Dodge Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon.” A Dodge running team of area employee and dealer volunteers will lace up their running shoes and participate in the half marathon on Sunday, Dec. 11. In addition, the all-new 2011 Dodge Durango and 2011 Dodge Charger will lead the way for thousands of runners as the official pace vehicles.
“Dodge is an American brand with American values, and we are committed to giving back into the communities where our customers work and live,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Dodge Brand. “The brand’s sponsorship of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon series provides an opportunity to be involved at a grassroots level and gives our team the chance to travel to communities around the country, connecting with the more than one million people who are involved with the races.”
The Dodge brand is sponsoring additional activities during the Dec. 10 – 11 race weekend.
Marathon runners and attendees will have the opportunity to win prizes and be fully immersed in the Dodge brand experience throughout the event’s two-day Health & Fitness Expo held at Lummus Park on South Beach, Sat. Dec. 10, and Sun, Dec. 11. The 2011 Dodge Durango, Charger, and Journey will be available to test drive outside the expo. In addition, race fans can check out and test drive the new 2012 Fiat 500. Dodge will make a $20 donation for each test drive to the participant’s charity of choice.
Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) marathon and triathlon athletes Sarah Reinertsen and Scout Bassett will sign autographs at the Dodge Course Preview Area inside the expo, Saturday from 12 – 4 p.m. Reinertsen and Bassett have a prosthetic leg. Reinertsen is the first women on a prosthetic leg to finish the Ironman World Championship and has raced around the world on CBS’ “The Amazing Race” reality TV series. With the help of CAF, family and friends, Bassett actively competes in triathlons around the world. In 2008 and 2010, she won silver medals in the International Triathlon World Championships.
The Dodge Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon is one of the final event this year in the 2011 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. The series of marathons and half marathons combine entertainment and running in a unique way. Bands stationed at every mile of the race keep runners and walkers energized, engaged and entertained. With more than 300,000 runners participating at 18 events across the nation, it is the largest and most widely attended marathon series in the world. Throughout its 14-year history, the Rock ‘n‘ Roll Marathon Series has raised more than $247 million for various charities. So far this year, Dodge has helped racers donate almost $80,000 to their charities of choice, and the effort continues.

2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Yellow Jacket
The Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team today announced an exclusive production run of special-edition 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8® 392 Yellow Jacket models featuring Stinger Yellow exterior paint and interior appointments.
Based on the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, the Challenger SRT8 Yellow Jacket features a Stinger Yellow body color and black grille surround to match the standard black body-side stripes that highlight the newly developed Yellow Jacket logo on the rear fender. New 20 x 9-inch, five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels with black painted pockets provide a unique performance look.
Inside, the standard leather seats feature an exclusive Stinger Yellow accent band with embroidered Yellow Jacket logo and silver accent stitching. The driver’s seat also features a full adjustable lumbar position with seatback tilt, memory and an easy-to-reach release handle, while the front-passenger seat adds tilt and slide with memory, which makes it even easier for passengers to get in and out of the back seat.

The original Dodge “Yellow Jacket” show car, which evolved from the 1970 Challenger, was shown at various auto show exhibits beginning in late 1969. Consumer Reports Likes What Chrysler LLC Is Doing
Chrysler LLC moves up on Consumer Reports reliability list for 2011. According to the “Consumer Reports Reliability Ranking” Chrysler jumped 12 notches to No. 15 on the list, Jeep climbed 7 spots to No. 13 on the list, and Dodge moved up 3 slots to No. 21. The No. 13 spot held by Jeep makes it the MOST RELIABLE AMERICAN VEHICLE. Both Ford and GM dropped in overall ranking compared to last year. The rankings are based on 1.3 Million consumers who were polled.
