Judge Rules: Store Can Sell “Imported From Detroit” Clothing
It looks like the Judge handling the case between Pure Detroit and Chrysler has ruled in favor of Pure Detroit. Chrysler had filed suit against Pure Detroit shortly after the small Michigan owned apparel business started selling shirts with the tag line “Imported From Detroit”. This tag line was used by Chrysler in their popular Super Bowl commercial that featured Eminem in a Chrysler 200. The Judge ruled that the merchandise being sold by Pure Detroit would not cause customers to confuse the apparel line with Chrysler. The Judge also concluded that the selling of the clothing would not cause irreparable harm to Chrysler.
